This course focused on exploring current trends and innovations shaping distance education across corporate, higher education, and K-12 learning environments. Throughout the course, I examined how online learning has evolved and developed practical skills in course design, instructional delivery, and learner engagement strategies suited for digital environments. Emphasis was placed on creating interactive and collaborative online learning experiences using modern instructional design tools and frameworks, culminating in the development of a fully designed online module that demonstrates both theoretical grounding and real-world application of distance learning principles.
Creator Independence Course: Building an Audience Beyond Social Media
For my course project, I designed and developed a fully realized online learning module targeting adult learners who are content creators, entrepreneurs, and aspiring digital product sellers. The module guides learners through the process of building a sustainable, independent audience beyond social media platforms by exploring the risks of platform dependency and developing practical strategies using owned channels such as email newsletters, personal websites, and private communities. The course was built inside Canvas LMS and incorporates a complete suite of instructional components including a syllabus, online orientation, instructor-created presentation, supplemental podcast, interactive branching scenario activity, formative and summative assessments, a graded strategy assignment, and a five-criterion rubric. Every component was designed using Adult Learning Theory and the ADDIE instructional design framework to ensure full alignment between learning objectives, instructional content, and assessments.
